This is the second book in the 'Journey' series and recalls the Apollo lunar missions flown during the 1960s and 1970s. Journey to the Moon follows a typical Apollo mission profile from launch through to landing. There are also additional sections on hardware, the Apollo mission, the astronauts and humanity's long-standing interest in observing and exploring the Moon.
As America was aiming for the Moon, the Soviet Union was in a race to send its cosmonauts there first. Unfortunately the Soviet manned lunar programme never left the ground, although they had more success with unmanned robotic spacecraft. These are also described in this book.
The book also includes interactive pages, a useful chronology and webste references for further study. There are many full-colour images throughout.
