The official emblem of the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project has the words 'Apollo' in English on the left and 'Soyuz' in Russian on the right, surrounding an image of the two spacecraft docked together.
Portrait of the crews that would be flying the historic first international mission in July 1975. (L to r) Deke Slayton, Tom Stafford, Vance Brand (Apollo crew) and Alexei Leonov, Valery Kubasov (Soyuz crew).
Taken by the Apollo 18 crew, this image shows the Soyuz 19 spacecraft containing Leonov and Kubasov in Earth orbit. The major components of the Soyuz spacecraft are the spherical-shaped Orbital Module (OM, left end), the bell-shaped Descent Module (DM, central section) and the cylindrical Assembly Module (AM, right end). The OM housed the docking system that would allow the Soyuz to join up with the Apollo Docking Module (DM) that can be seen in the foreground.
US astronaut Deke Slayton and Leonov are shown together in the Soyuz Orbital Module during the historic ASTP mission.
Leonov was an accomplished artist and this image from ASTP shows his drawing of US Apollo commander Tom Stafford, which Leonov had drawn during the mission.
Written in both English and Russian, this plaque was assembled from several pieces on orbit by the astronauts and cosmonauts to commemorate the Apollo-Soyuz mission and the first international space flight.
