Jack Swigert flew just one mission into space. Although this mission became one of the most famous in history, as the lunar mission which did not achieve a landing and almost claimed the lives of its crew - Apollo 13. Three days before launch Swigert was moved from the backup crew to the prime crew replacing Thomas Mattingly, grounded due to the later exposure to German measles. This was the first time an astronaut was asked to join the prime crew at such short notice.
