All three missions were associated with the assembly and expansion of the space station with Sellers flying as a Mission Specialist twice on the orbiter Atlantis (OV-104), and once on Discovery (OV-103). Prior to selection for astronaut training in 1996 Sellers had worked at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland for 14 years trying several times to enter the astronaut programme.
