Gemini 12
Gemini 12 completed the highly successful two-man programme and set the stage for the more advanced three-man Apollo missions which were designed to take American astronauts to the moon by 1970. The tenth manned mission of the series was a rendezvous and docking mission which also included demonstrations of EVA techniques.  Extensive underwater training had been found to be more suitable for preparing an astronaut to work in open space. Aldrin would test these new techniques on Gemini 12.
