One of the pioneers of the American space programme Frank Borman is best remembered for the command of two milestone missions of the 1960s. In December 1965 he completed the first 14 day space marathon with Jim Lovell aboard Gemini 7 and the first space rendezvous with Gemini 6. Three years later he commanded the first crew (Lovell and Bill Anders) to circle the moon and thus extending man’s horizons in space beyond Earth orbit. Borman is also remembered for a challenging term with Eastern Airlines after leaving the astronaut programme.
