Nuclear engineer and pilot Bill Anders was a crew-member on the historic flight of Apollo 8 to the moon in December 1968. It was his only spaceflight but was a milestone in the development of space exploration and human history. For the first time humans left Earth orbit and journey across the void of space to another celestial body. Anders was a member of that pioneering crew who took stunning photos of the Earth rising from the limb of the moon. After serving on the back up crew to Apollo 11 he left the astronaut programme to embark on an eight year career in government service before completing a high profile career in one of America’s leading aerospace companies.
